Mrs. Tina Schofield - Room 33
Welcome to Mrs. Schofield's third grade class! I have been in the teaching profession for 40 years. Before coming to St. Vincent, I taught 1st grade at St. Boniface in Elgin, Nebraska and 3rd grade at St. Alberts in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This will be my 31st year at St. Vincent de Paul School. I have the privilege of teaching the social studies curriculum to all third grade students. I also teach math, reading, spelling, vocabulary, religion, and handwriting to my homeroom students. I am a graduate from the institute formally known as Kearney State College, now known as the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
There is a lot to learn and do this year! In reading, students will continue to develop comprehension skills, explore literary elements, identify character perspective, and summarize. Key math concepts include basic multiplication and division, multiplying greater numbers, and long division. Social studies students will learn about resources, economics, government, and the building of our country. Religion focuses on Jesus and building the Kingdom of God. They will also learn and use cursive writing this year. Students begin the transition to a more digital-based classroom with the use of their own Chromebook and by using Google Classroom. We will work together to develop academic, social, time management, and organizational skills. These lifelong skills will help your child be a successful student and citizen. Prayer is included in every facet of the school day. Our room will be a learning environment where the students feel safe and loved. Mrs. Rangel is the teacher associate who will be working with Room 33 students and teacher. This is her 23rd year with St. Vincent de Paul School. Our class motto is "Do my best, Be my best, I have the power." I encourage my students to apply this motto to all aspects of their educational and social experiences. "Be More ..." is our school theme for 2022-2023. We are looking forward to the Lord's help as we soar through another great year of school.
