Mrs. Christy Kleffman - Room 11

Background
Welcome to 1st grade in Room 11 at St. Vincent de Paul School! This is my 21st year of teaching 1st grade at SVdP. I attended the College of Saint Mary and received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 2000. I became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in 2009. I also previously taught 3rd grade for three years in OPS.

Class Info
Reading will be a major focus of our year in 1st grade. It is my goal for every child to leave my classroom as not only a fluent reader, but also as a life long lover of books. In addition, students will focus on math readiness and awareness by studying addition, subtraction, time, money, geometry, and number sense. We will also work to build the social skills of each student by learning about friendships, being a good teammate, and becoming more independent in our learning and academic skills. Mrs. Sharon Ellerbeck is the teacher associate who will be working with students in Room 11 this year.
